An Easy Owl Costume for Halloween

I sewed these costumes...however you could use a hot glue gun to make them.

How to make an Owl Costume with a hot glue gun.

Materials needed; a big sweatshirt (not formed fitted), sweat pants, felt in different colors, scissors and a hot glue gun.

Cut sweatshirt band off, cut feathers out of felt (3 to 5 different colors)(I wouldn't make them too small) cut in a slight triangle shape.

Start gluing the feathers... row by row starting at the bottom of the sweatshirt. I alternated the colors. The feathers need to be overlapping like in the photo. I stopped my final row at just above chest level.

For the Hat

- measure your head width divide measurement in 2 and add 2"

(for eg. mine = 22" /2 = 11" + 2" = 13" wide)

- measure the length of your head in the front from top of your head to above your eyebrows...add 1" extra on the measurement for seam allowance for the top (for eg. mine= 9" +1"=10")

- cut out 2 pieces (for eg. mine = 13" X 11" size)

(dry and press glued parts in between steps to make sure it glued permanently) - Close side seams with glue gun.

- glue top seam too

- bottom of hat leave as is.

- Cut and glue felt eyes and beak to hat. (see photo)

Wear sweatpants in same color as sweatshirt.

(I sewed my costume...but this is an easy way to make a similar owl costume without sewing.)

(be careful with the hot glue gun...OUCH...I always end up burning myself).
